Baby shower games
Three printable baby shower games: bingo, a word scramble and a who-knows-mom-best quiz. Pick a game, enter your guests, and press print.
Festidy's baby shower plan puts the games in your run of show and lists what to buy, with a Little sprout theme and an invitation guests can reply to.
Make my baby shower planHow it works
- Bingo: each card is a 5 x 5 grid with a free middle square and 24 baby gift words picked from a list of 40. No two cards have the same words in the same places, so different guests win first. There are 4 cards to a letter page, and we round up to whole pages.
- Two ways to play bingo: a caller draws words from the calling sheet, or you play gift bingo, where guests mark a square when that gift is opened. Gift bingo runs while the gifts are opened, so it adds no time to the party. Its check sheet lets a helper tick each gift and write who gave it.
- How many cards: one per guest. Couples can share. The number is rounded up to a full page of 4, and the extras are spares.
- Word scramble: 12 words picked from a list of 30 baby words of 5 to 9 letters. Each one is mixed until it differs from the real word. The answer key is its own page. Shuffle makes a new set, and the link keeps yours.
- Who knows mom best: 12 questions that anyone could know about a person: favorite food, first job, dream trip. None are about the parent's body or the birth. The parent writes the real answers ahead, or reads them out on the day.
- Printing: letter paper, one game per page. Bingo is 4 cards a page. The scramble and the quiz are 2 copies a page, so cut on the dashed line. One page of each serves 2 guests.
- How many games: Festidy's baby shower runs 2.5 hours and has a slot for two light games between food and gifts. That is 2 or 3 games in all, counting gift bingo as one.

Tips for baby shower games
- Pick games about the guests. Guessing games about the parents' tastes work. Games that put a body or a birth on show leave people uneasy.
- Mix one sit-down game with one that runs by itself. Bingo plays out while gifts are opened, and the quiz fits while people eat.
- Keep prizes small. A potted herb, a candle or a bar of chocolate (check for nuts if guests have allergies) is plenty. One prize per game is enough.
- Put pens on every table. Pencils or crayons work too, and a lap tray helps guests who are not at a table.
- Ask the parent for answers early. For the quiz, have them fill in a card the week before, so the host can read the real answers without asking.
Questions
What are the best baby shower games?
Bingo, a word scramble and a guessing quiz about the parent are the easiest, because they need only paper and pens. Festidy's Little sprout shower adds a baby photo guessing game, advice cards, a onesie decorating station and a seed-planting favor.
How do you play baby shower bingo?
Give each guest a card and a pen. Either a caller reads a word from the calling sheet and guests mark it, or guests mark a gift when it is opened. The first to mark five in a row, across, down or corner to corner, calls "Bingo." The middle square is free.
How many games should you play at a baby shower?
Two or three. In a 2.5-hour shower the planner has room for two light games of 10 to 30 minutes between food and gifts. Gift bingo runs while gifts are opened, so it adds no time.
How many bingo cards do I need for a baby shower?
One per guest, rounded up to a full page of 4. For 20 guests that is 5 pages and 20 cards. A couple can share a card.
How do you play who knows mom best?
Each guest writes a guess for 12 questions, such as her favorite food or her first job. Mom reads the real answers, guests write them in and score 1 point per match. The highest score wins a small prize.
What is gift bingo?
It is bingo played while the gifts are opened. Cards hold baby gift words, like onesie, swaddle and burp cloths, and guests mark a square each time that gift comes out of the wrapping. No caller is needed.
