Birthday countdown
Pick the party or birthday date and see the days and weeks left. Below the count, this week's to-do list comes from Festidy's own party checklist.
Festidy's planner puts every one of these steps on its own date, and its invitation collects RSVPs and counts the headcount for you.
Make my party planHow it works
- Days: the calendar days from today to your date. Today is day 0.
- Weeks: the days split into whole weeks and the days left over.
- Sleeps: the nights before the day, which is the same number as the days left. Little kids often count this way.
- A birthday: pick "A birthday" and the countdown goes to the next time that month and day comes. Born on February 29? We count to March 1 in years without a leap day. If you give a birth year, we also show the age being turned.
- What to do this week: Festidy's kids' birthday checklist gives every task a number of days before the party. We show the tasks that fall in the next 7 days. Any task whose day has already passed shows as "Do now", with the 6 most urgent first. If nothing falls in the next 7 days, we show the next step. For a birthday date, we count the birthday as the party day.
- Your name: stays in your browser. The share link carries it after the # sign, which is never sent to a server.

Tips for the weeks before a party
- Start with the long lead times. Cake orders and invitations come first. Custom bakers have limited room, and invitations go out 3 to 4 weeks ahead.
- Do not wait for the last week. The final days are for confirming, shopping and setting up, not deciding. The party checklist maker lists every step with its date.
- Use sleeps for kids under about 7. "Eleven sleeps" is easier to feel than "eleven days".
- Put the countdown where everyone sees it. Send the link to the family chat, or run it on the TV party screen on the day.
Questions
How many days until my birthday?
Enter your birth date above and choose "A birthday". The countdown goes to the next one, even if the year you typed is long past, and shows the age you will turn.
How many weeks before a birthday party should you start planning?
Festidy's planner starts a kids' birthday 7 weeks (49 days) before the party with the date, budget, guest list, theme and location. Starting later works, and the list above puts the late steps first.
What should I do the week before a birthday party?
Confirm every vendor (7 days before), lock the headcount and shop for food and drinks (5 days), prep favors, decor and a playlist (4 days), then write the party-day schedule and send a final note to guests (3 days).
When should birthday party invitations go out?
3 to 4 weeks before the party, which is 28 days in Festidy's checklist. Festidy's invitation asks guests to reply 10 days before the party.
What does "sleeps until" mean?
It counts the nights before the big day. If the party is in 9 days, it is 9 sleeps away. Turn it on above and it shows under the day count.
How do I share the countdown?
Press "Copy share link". The date is in the link, so whoever opens it sees the same countdown. A name you typed rides after the # sign and stays in the browser.
