Party schedule maker
A kids party timeline with clock times. Pick the start and the length; every part of the party is timed, and each one says who runs it.
Festidy's plan adds the dated checklist, shopping amounts and invitations around this schedule.
Make my party planHow we calculate
- The parts and their order: Festidy's planner has a run of show for each party type. A kids' birthday goes arrivals and free play, main game, snacks, cake, then craft and favors, planned for 2 hours.
- Scaling: pick a different length and every part moves in proportion. A 90 minute party runs at three quarters of the 2 hour timings, a 3 hour one at one and a half times. Starts are rounded to the nearest 5 minutes.
- Goodbyes: the last line is the end time, so the party stops when you said it would.
- Games: with a theme, the main game part names one or two games from Festidy's list for that theme, picked for your child's age and the minutes available. Swap games picks different ones.
- Cake: the planner puts cake at two thirds of the way through a kids' party, which is 40 minutes before the end of a 2 hour one.
- Default lengths: 2 hours for a kids' birthday, 2.5 for a baby shower, 3 for a graduation, adult birthday or house party. Rule of thumb: 90 minutes suits guests aged 3 and under.

Tips for running the schedule
- Put names next to the roles. Print the sheet, write a name beside each role and tape it on the fridge. Everyone can see who has the next part.
- Set a phone alarm for cake. Candles and a singing crowd are easier to run when the photographer is ready and the lighter is in reach.
- Never leave candles unattended. Light them when the group is gathered, and put them out right after the song.
- Keep the end time. The planner's note for the last part is to end on time while energy is still high. Put the end time on the invitation so parents can plan pickup.
- Show it on the TV. The TV party screen runs this same schedule full screen, with a countdown to cake.
Questions
What is a good schedule for a 2 hour kids birthday party?
Starting at 2:00 PM: arrivals and free play at 2:00, main game at 2:30, snacks at 3:00, cake at 3:20, craft and favors at 3:35 and goodbyes at 4:00. That is the planner's run of show for a kids' birthday.
How long should a kids birthday party be?
Festidy plans 2 hours for a kids' birthday. Guests aged 3 and under do better with 90 minutes (a rule of thumb); older kids can stretch to 2.5 or 3 hours with more games.
When should you serve cake at a kids birthday party?
About 40 minutes before the end of a 2 hour party: 80 minutes in, after snacks. Kids are fed and still lively, and there is time for a craft and favors before they leave.
How many games should I plan for a 2 hour party?
The main game part is 30 minutes, which fits two games of 10 to 15 minutes. Free play at the start and the craft at the end cover the rest, so a third game is optional.
What is the timeline for a baby shower?
For 2.5 hours starting at 1:00 PM: arrivals at 1:00, food at 1:30, two light games at 2:00, gifts at 2:30, cake and a toast at 3:05, and goodbyes at 3:30.
Can I print the party schedule?
Yes. Press Print for a one-page sheet with the times, the parts and who runs each, made to stick on the fridge. Copy as text pastes it into a message to your helpers.
